The management council of Ikoyi Club 1938 has commended Union Bank of Nigeria PLC for sustaining the sponsorship of its Annual Grand Slam Tennis Tournament, among many other activities in the club, as part of its corporate social responsibility.The chairman of Tennis Section, Ikoyi Club, Mr. Chike Orjiako, made the commendation during the closing ceremony of this year’s event, saying that the tournament was one of the oldest surviving tournaments in the club.

He appreciated the Bank’s management for sustaining the yearly tournament in spite of the tough challenges in the operating environment, considering that sponsorship of events by other corporate bodies had dwindled.Mr. Orjiako disclosed that this year’s tournament recorded about the highest number of participants in the history of the tournament, with 80 members grouped into eight teams of ten members each representing each of the Bank’s subsidiaries.
