Since the start of the financial crisis, business writers have been racing to pen the definitive story of collapsing credit markets and fallen banks.But while book sales jumped when the crisis was at its worst last year, signs of economic recovery beg the question: Is anyone reading crisis books on the beach this summer?
Books about the crisis that are doing well are "House of Cards" (Doubleday) by William Cohan, "Fool's Gold" (Free Press) by Gillian Tett, and "Street Fighters" (Portfolio) by Kate Kelly, at No. 4, 8 and 14 on New York Times business bestseller list in July."House of Cards" has sold 85,000 copies since its release in March this year, while "Fool's Gold" and "Street Fighters," both released in May, have sold 17,000 and 14,000, respectively, according to Nielsen BookScan.
