The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, said the various reforms in Ghana’s financial sector must be reviewed to focus on the human resource challenges currently confronting the industry. Dr. Duffuor said to stem competition for staff among the institutions, attention should be paid to the policies and plans to enhance the human resources supply to the industry on a sustainable basis.
The Minister was speaking at the ninth Working Luncheon of the Ghana Association of Bankers in Accra on the theme: “Human Resource Development: a Key to improving growth I the financial services industry and the economy. He said while the financial services sector had witnessed significant growth in recent years in response to the various reforms that had been introduced, leading to intense competition and a range of innovative financial products, the expansion had not been accompanied with human resource capacity.
