Tan Sri Zarinah Anwar, chairman of the Securities Commission (SC), has received the prestigious Islamic finance award which was held in conjunction with the London Sukuk Summit on July 2 and 3.She was presented with the "Most Outstanding Contribution to the Development of an Islamic Capital Market" award, the SC said in a statement here Friday.
Since taking over the helm of SC in April 2006, Zarinah has been at the forefront of Islamic capital market development, the commission said.Under her stewardship, Malaysia remains firmly established as one of the largest issuers of sukuk globally, with 60 percent of the world's issuance of sukuk originating from Malaysia, it said.Today, about 87 percent of the listed securities on the Malaysia stock exchange are Syariah-compliant, it added.
