The National Bankers Association said Americans may be getting the wrong impression of the industry. The association's CEO said President Obama is partly to blame. The association wants President Obama to be a better communicator. Specifically, the association wants the president to do a better job distinguishing between Wall Street and the thousands of FDIC insured banks across the country.
Indiana Bankers Association President Joe Dehaven said it doesn't help local banks when lawmakers make blanket statements about the banking industry."There's a little bit of frustration, in that, we've not really been able to identify who we are," said Dehaven. He admits the association needs to do a better job of reminding consumers that not all banks contributed to the economic meltdown and not all are in trouble.
