February, 24, 2010

Jeremy Larkin, a managing director at Deutsche Bank will switch from the German bank after three months of gardening leave to join its American rival JP Morgan.Larkin will be appointed the co-head of general industrials based in Sydney and will share the role with JPMorgan banker Jason McLeod who works from the Melbourne office. It is expected Larkin will take up the role in late May.The appointment comes as many in the investment banking industry expect a raft of changes to occur in the next few weeks as the bonus season payments hit the bankers’ accounts.

The combined Bank of America-Merrill Lynch has led the resurgent hiring charge of late, while Citi has also revealed goals to beef up its banking and global research capabilities.Deutsche has been quick to replace Larkin, by today announcing Tim Longstaff will become the co-head of its general industrials group. The Melbourne-based Dean Hamilton will continue to hold his role as co-head as well.Longstaff joined Deutsche last year from ABN Amro where he ran the general industrials business and worked in transport, rail and construction banking.
