Local banks plan to hire as many as 3,200 new staff, plus 4,200 interns, this year, as they recover from last year's global banking crisis, industry officials said yesterday.According to industry officials, 11 commercial banks are looking for 3,200 new staff in total, of them 2,300 as permanent employees and the other 900 as irregular workers.
They include the top 6 banks - Kookmin, Shinhan, Woori, Hana, Korea Exchange Bank and Industrial Bank of Korea.Among them, Shinhan looks likely to hire the largest number of permanent staff this year. The lender is considering recruiting about the same number of new employees as last year, officials said. Shinhan hired 400 as permanent staff in 2009.Kwangju Bank is currently accepting applications from job seekers, looking to recruit 110 college graduates.
