THE CYPRUS Consumers Association (CCA) has lambasted the island’s finance industry for its inadequate provision of information and services to consumers, saying "Consumers are better protected when they buy a washing machine, than when taking a mortgage loan.”On the occasion of World Consumer Day, yesterday, the CCA has launched a campaign to encourage various improvements within the industry.
Under the slogan "Our Money, Our Rights" the CCA, together with the European Consumers Organisation (BEUC) and Consumers International is promoting "Access to safe, affordable, transparent, fair and adequate financial services.""In the current financial and economic climate, it is extremely important that consumers can have confidence in goods and services they purchase both nationally and across borders." They said yesterday. They have suggested improvements in two main areas: information and services.
