To avoid confusion as to what responsibilities constitute consulting services, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants published the first Statement on Standards for Consulting Services (SSCS). Entitled 'Definitions and Standards,' the statement also addresses the controversial issue of auditor independence which concerns CPAs providing consulting services to the clients.
